Live from Daryl's House: John Oates -- The House Inspection

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a total Hall & Oates junkie. No doubt, they may in fact be one of the most overplayed groups of all times, but, for good reason. They're some serious old school artists and their Rock and Soul flavor was everywhere when I was growing up in eastern Pennsylvania. For my brother and I, Private Eyes and Maneater were some of our favorite songs to sing in the backseat of an old, big, green Buick.

But anyway, Live from Daryl's House has been a favorite monthly watch of mine ever since Chromeo was on. I think this is a great format for musicians of any type or generation to reach new audiences, remain relevant, and increase their brand visibility.

Thing is, you gotta be good live.

The current episode, Episode 13, features special guest John Oates. Dope. While I love their music, I hate watching these two guys together. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but I always sense this undercurrent of tension when they're together. Yet, at the same time, they also realize just how much they need each other in order to be at their creative best. And that's why I watch, cause they really have a magic together that only comes with collaboration. Even when they have nothing else, great creative teams find a way to continue to collaborate. You should go watch the entire episode now. Really.

If you want to hear the kinda stuff John Oates is writing these days, check out 'Ghost Town.'
